İncir Reçeli, unripe fig jam and the gypsies

You may see gypsy ladies peeling and selling unripe figs, in bulk amounts, their fingers are wounded by the figs’ milk, wrapping their fingers with the best possible way, with nylon bags pieces and trying to bring home money.

If you don’t like peeling figs to make incir reçeli, fig jam, you may find these peeled fig packs at open markets, or Kadıköy Balık Pazarı, Beyoğlu Balık Pazarı…

Sincerely speaking I am not sure how this affects fig prices when in season or is there any figs left on the trees to grow at all, living in a cosmopolitan city, and seeing all the fruit trees are replaced by buildings and apartments…

I am not saying no to any reçel, any traditional things, as you know me and how I am stuck to my memories… So if you like fig jam, have a pack or two ready to be cooked figs and prepare your jam with the help of cloves, sugar and even half of a vanilla stick…
