Turkey, one of the most beautiful places in the whole big bad world. People, food, nature, culture, history… whatever you like, all in one. The sole reason why Turkey is my favorite place for travelling.  Every region, every city, every village, all have their homogeneous sides as well as differences in food and their lifestyles…

Diyarbakır… Strolling through the streets, vast of street food sellers come across your way, you always have an excuse to stop to taste at Diyarbakır.

Aluç, alıç is now in season and you can’t help but wanting to dive into the heaps of it. I remember we used to make edible necklaces from this mini fruit.

Meyankökü şerbeti -liquorice drink- is sold in plastic bags, ready to explode, ı wonder how you carry them anywhere without exploding them!

A well known display of spices at Diyarbakır, locals prefer buying it as a mix. If someone doing it for you, why bother.

Another heap of food is roasted sheep heads! Being creative is the thing, stuffing them with peppers and onions, well, it tastes better with peppers and onions. Making tower-high trays full, again locals have their favorite stops, me, I can have them all!

Before the dark falls,  çiğköfte –a raw meatball made with bulgur and meat, kneading them continuously till bulgur softenspreparations take start. Cos lettuce, parsley, bulgur, meat and isot…

Then comes the sweets, a basic dough fried in oil and finished with the simple syrup, crunchy and delicious known as halka tatlı...

Then it starts getting dark, the charcoal and liver smells take over the city… Another feast awaits…
