It is that time of the year. When the sun softly touches your back, a lovely wind carrying all the earthly and flowery smells. It is time to hit the road, to Aegean Coast, where all the hills are covered with daisies, edible wild greens, ladybugs, wild flowers…

Yalıkavak pazarı is one of the biggest and most visited markets around Bodrum, like Bodrum Pazarı, but not big like Milas Pazarı in Muğla. Groceries, dairy, kinds of olives, jams, spices, shoes, sheets, ornaments, pots, pans, toys… all can be found. This time is the best season for my food palette. Artichokes, wild asparagus, prickly asparagus, fresh garlic, arapsaçı, kazayağı, nettle, dandelion…

One of my favorite spot in the market is the börek lady’s stall. The böreks take you to another level of joy, in every bite, especially swallowing a half baking tray of the spicy eggplant filled one, the feta and herbed börek being the fit for my mom, we munch, we stroll, we shop and chat…

Before we leave the market, to pamper the already gorgeous garden, we stop to buy some flowers, may be couple of different herbs and some seedling, hard to choose amongst the colorful, pretty ones…  Soon it is time to cook the delicious food in our bags, enjoy an afternoon drink, a beautiful sunset…

Everything is nice in spring, especially at Yalıkavak.
